Vegetarians and vegans can boost their diet with supplements if required.

SMOKING

The toxins in cigarettes are known to degrade collagen and smoking also reduces the amount of oxygen available to the skin, which can leave it looking dull and lifeless. So it goes without saying that smoking should be avoided or minimised to preserve collagen.

ALCOHOL

Radiofrequency (RF) treatment involves the application of radiofrequency energy to the surface of the skin using a handpiece with electrodes that transmits the energy into the skin. This energy heats the dermal layer, stimulating the activation of fibroblasts in the skin which are responsible for the production of collagen and elastin, crucial components of healthy skin. RF is commonly used for skin tightening, reducing wrinkles and fine lines, and improving overall skin texture and tone.

RF treatment is completely non-invasive and can be used on the face, neck, décolleté and body. It is great for improving ageing skin and firming skin that has become lax through ageing, weight loss or pregnancy. Radiofrequency treatment is pain free and has very little downtime other than mild redness for a few hours. You can go straight back to daily activities following an RF treatment.

Radiofrequency Microneedling :

Most clinics will use a local anaesthetic cream to 'numb' your skin prior to a RF Microneedling treatment which makes the procedure much more tolerable although some discomfort may still be felt. Downtime:

RF treatment typically involves minimal to no downtime, with mild redness that resolves quickly within a few hours. Radiofrequency microneedling may require a few days of downtime due to the micro-injuries created by the needles, during which you may experience more prolonged redness and mild swelling.

Number of Sessions:

RF treatment requires multiple sessions at weekly intervals to achieve optimal results. At Halo Aesthetics we recommend 6 treatments initially (once a week for 6 weeks), followed by a maintenance session every 6-8 weeks. Radiofrequency microneedling usually requires fewer sessions compared to Radiofrequency. We recommend a course of 3 sessions (once a month for 3 months) followed by a maintenance session every 6-12 months depending on the skin condition and severity of concerns.

Cost:

Radiofrequency Microneedling tends to be more expensive than Radiofrequency treatment due to the combination of microneedling and RF technology which makes devices much more expensive for clinics to purchase and running costs are higher. 5 EARLY SIGNS OF AGEING AND HOW TO TREAT THEM

Our top tips for slowing down the ageing process ...

At Halo Aesthetics in Milton Keynes, we are experts in anti-ageing and skin health. We understand the ageing process and how this can affect your self-confidence. Ageing affects different people in different ways, which is why there is no 'one size fits all' solution for ageing. We always offer every new patient a free consultation to assess and discuss their skin concerns and find solutions that suit them, their lifestyle and their budget. We have identified 5 of the most common early signs of ageing that people seek advice for, and explain what causes them and more importantly what you can do now to tackle them and prevent them from worsening.

1. Fine lines and wrinkles

As we reach our late 20's to early 30's the collagen levels in our skin start to deplete and fine lines start to appear, usually around the eyes and mouth first as these are the most mobile areas. This is an ideal time to up your skincare game and stop using supermarket or department store products and start to use something with more 'active' ingredients to boost your skin's collagen production, slow down the ageing process and protect your skin from further UV damage.

A daily SPF is a MUST (we love Intradermology Synergy-6 ) and an anti-oxidant serum is also a good investment. 2. Dull skin

Our skin is continually shedding and renewing itself but as we get older this process of renewal slows down. In our 20's it can take 24-30 days, in our 30's this increases to 28-35 days and in our 40's is estimated to be 30-42 days. When this renewal process slows down the skin becomes dull due to the fact that the surface dead skin cells are not shedding quickly and the fresher, healthier looking skin beneath is hidden.

To improve dull skin exfoliation is key - this can be done with chemical or physical exfoliators. Some physical exfoliator (scrubs) can be too harsh so throw away the apricot scrub! Instead look for a cleanser which contain AHAs (alpha hydroxy acids) and BHAs (beta hydroxy acids) such as lactic acid and glycolic acid We absolutely LOVE DIBI Milano's Extreme Youth Cleanser which is very nourishing and contains a gentle retinol for skin renewal (available in clinic). We also recommend regular professional facials to remove dead skin cells, encourage skin renewal and keep your skin looking fresh and healthy.

3. Uneven skin tone

Uneven skin tone is caused by unwanted pigmentation - when the skin produces too much pigment in response to excess sun exposure, sunbeds, pregnancy, some medication, acne scarring etc. This causes brown patches on the skin which makes it lose it's even tone. Hyperpigmented skin can also be dull, lifeless and lacking in radiance.

Pigmentation can be tricky to treat especially if it is severe but there are some very effective treatments available. We would always recommend speaking to a professional about hyperpigmentation and urge you NOT to buy 'lightening creams' online as these can be dangerous and have the potential to cause more damage. With the right topical skincare and in clinic treatments such as skin peels or Hydrafacial® a clearer, more even skin tone can be achieved safely. Patience is required as this can take several months to achieve.

4. Eye bags

One of the first signs of ageing is a change in the undereye area. The skin here is thinner and more prone to fine lines. Collagen loss can also cause some hollowness in this area. The first signs of ageing in this delicate area are best treated with Polynucleotide Injections - an innovative treatment which triggers restorative processes in the skin. CAN I HAVE PROFHILO WITH FILLER?

In this blog we talk about the difference between Profhilo and Dermal Filler and whether you should have one or the other or both

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PROFHILO AND DERMAL FILLER?

Many of our patients ask the question " what is the difference between Dermal Filler and Profhilo ?" and the next question is usually " can I have Profhilo AND Dermal Filler? ". The short and simple answer is yes! Read on to find out how Profhilo and Dermal Filler differ, when they should be used and whether you can have treatment with both.

At our Aesthetic Clinic in Milton Keynes, Profhilo and Dermal Filler are two of our most popular treatments. Some patients have one or the other and many patients have both. Let me explain first of all how they differ.

Profhilo is formulated using concentrated, 'unlinked' hyaluronic acid - this means that the hyaluronic acid molecules are free to float around in the skin so this product disperses once it is injected. Profhilo is mainly used on the mid and lower face using a process known as the BAP (bio-aesthetic points) technique. This technique has been designed to maximise the flow and spread of the injected Profhilo and will bring about a change all over the mid and lower face. Profhilo delivers intense hydration which plumps the skin, smoothing away fine lines and giving the skin a radiant glow. The presence of high concentrations of hyaluronic acid also aids the production of collagen and improves the overall health of the skin. HYDRATED SKIN = HEALTHY SKIN.

Dermal Filler is also made from hyaluronic acid but the molecules are linked together with a chemical called BDDE (butanediol diglycidyl ether) which means that when injected the filler does not spread and instead stays in the target treatment area. Dermal Filler is perfect for replacing lost volume and correcting deeper lines and folds in the skin. It can also be useful to contour and redefine the cheeks, jawline, nose, lips and chin.

SHOULD I CHOOSE PROFHILO OR DERMAL FILLER?

It can be difficult to know what treatment is best for you so I would always recommend that you book a consultation with a reputable Aesthetic Nurse/Doctor who has lots of experience in using Profhilo and Dermal Filler. At our Aesthetic Clinic in Milton Keynes we offer all new patients a free consultation so that we can assess your concerns and recommend the best treatment for you. Everyone is different but if you are under the age of 40, you are noticing signs of ageing and you are looking to freshen up your face and treat fine lines then Profhilo is a good option. If you are over 40 then you are likely to have some volume loss and/or deeper lines/folds which would be more suited to Dermal Filler treatment. Saying that I have patients under the age of 40 who have Dermal Filler and patients over the age of 40 who have amazing results with Profhilo! It's not a one size fits all situation which is why a consultation is so important.

CAN I HAVE PROFHILO AND DERMAL FILLER?

Absolutely yes! Some people can get away with having either one or the other but the reality is that many aesthetic treatments work better in combination. If you are seeing signs of ageing then often you will benefit from Dermal Filler treatment to restore lost volume and give your skin a 'lift' and Profhilo to hydrate the skin, smooth the surface and give your skin a healthy glow. The way I explain it to my patients at my aesthetic clinic in Milton Keynes is that Dermal Filler is like plumping up your mattress and Profhilo is like adding a nice mattress topper. Either would make a difference but both together is the best option!

For those who are looking to have both Profhilo and Dermal Filler treatment together I usually recommend that these are done at separate appointments, ideally with a few weeks in between. The reason for this is to reduce the trauma to the skin, to allow the treatment area to heal and settle and also to make it clear to you what the result is from each treatment. If you have both treatments together you will get an amazing result but it can be difficult to judge what has made the most difference to you, so by doing them separately this will be clearer.

HOW LONG DO PROFHILO AND DERMAL FILLER LAST?

For best results we recommend an initial 2 sessions of Profhilo 4 weeks apart then one session every 6 months to maintain results. Dermal Fillers last around 12 months and usually only one session is required but some people may need a touch up a month or so later. So if you are having both treatments you would have Prohilo every 6 months and Dermal Filler once a year.

WHAT IS POLYNUCLEOTIDE TREATMENT AND WHY IS EVERYONE HAVING IT?

WHAT IS POLYNUCLEOTIDE TREATMENT?

With many people seeking more natural solutions for their cosmetic procedures polynucleotide treatment is having a bit of a moment and is becoming increasingly popular in aesthetic clinics. Polynucleotide treatment uses DNA fragments extracted from salmon to bio-stimulate positive changes in the skin. Polynucleotide solution has the capability to send specific signals to the skin at a cellular level to bring about the actions we would like it to perform, so when it is injected into the skin it offers the following benefits:

Increases cellular turnover leading to fresher looking skin
Increases production of elastin to reduce skin laxity
Improves the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles

HOW ARE POLYNUCLEOTIDES DIFFERENT TO DERMAL FILLERS?

Dermal fillers are usually made from a synthetic version of hyaluronic acid and act as 'implants' in the skin to volumise, hydrate and improve skin folds, wrinkles etc. Whilst dermal fillers can be amazing for some skin concerns there are occasions when a dermal filler is not the right choice and polynucleotides are more appropriate. For example, many people seek tear trough treatment for a tired, hollow undereye area but they may not be suitable for dermal filler. This may be because the hollowness is not deep enough, or the skin is too thin, they have dark circles or they have some undereye puffiness. So for these individuals who are not suitable for tear trough treatment, polynucleotide treatment may be much more appropriate. Another example would be someone who had some skin laxity (loose skin) but does not require volumisation - polynucleotide treatment would help to firm and restore the skin without the addition of unnecessary volume.

CAN POLYNUCLEOTIDE TREATMENT BE COMBINED WITH OTHER TREATMENTS?

Absolutely! In fact, we often recommend it for best results. We often pair polynucleotide treatment with dermal fillers , anti-wrinkle injections , RadioFrequency Microneedling or Profhilo as we find that combination treatments yield the best results.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?

For best results we recommend 2 treatments initially (2-4 weeks apart) with a top-up session around every 9-12 months to maintain the results. Unlike dermal fillers which offer instant results, polynucleotide treatment requires some patience, with best results seen 2-3 months following treatment.

WHAT DOES THE PROCEDURE INVOLVE?

Polynucleotide treatment is a fairly quick and straight forward procedure. After a full consultation to assess your suitability for treatment you will be fully informed about the procedure, the downtime and expected outcome. On the day of treatment your skin will be prepared and fully cleansed, the areas for treatment will be identified and a few small injections will be performed. Usually a cannula (a flexible, blunt needle) will be used which cuts down on the number of injections and reduces the trauma to the skin. The procedure will be uncomfortable but any discomfort is short-lived.

Immediately afterwards your skin will be a little red and is likely to look bumpy and a bit swollen. The swelling normally lasts around 3-5 days and you may also experience some bruising so it is best to avoid this treatment if you have any important events coming up. You can resume your normal activities straight away but it usually advised to keep the area clean and avoid strenuous exercise, swimming, sunbeds etc until the area is healed.

HOW MUCH DOES POLYNUCLEOTIDE TREATMENT COST?

What is Body Dysmorphic Disorder?

Body dysmorphic disorder (BDD), or body dysmorphia, is a condition which can affect men and women of any age but most commonly occurs in teenagers and young adults. Someone suffering from BDD spends a lot of time worrying about their appearance and gets fixated on perceived 'flaws' in the way they look.

What causes BDD?

The exact cause of BDD is unknown but it may be linked to genetic make up, chemical changes in the brain and, in some cases, may be triggered by trauma or an event occurring during childhood, e.g. playground taunts, parental criticism etc.

What are the signs of BDD?

Excessive worrying about the appearance of certain body parts, often the face
Spending a lot of time comparing yourself to how other people look
Constantly looking in the mirror or avoiding mirrors completely
Going to extreme lengths to conceal 'flaws', e.g. spending an abnormally long time applying make-up
Picking at skin or body hair

Can BDD be treated?

It can be very difficult to seek help for BDD, but it's important to remember that you have nothing to feel ashamed or embarrassed about. It is unlikely that BDD will resolve on its own so it is important to get help to prevent the condition from becoming worse. You should seek help from your GP in the first instance and they will likely ask you some questions about your feelings and how they are affecting your day to day life. You may be offered a type of anti-depressant medication or cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT). Depending on the severity of your symptoms they may choose to refer you to a specialist.

Mild BDD can be managed through self care - mindfulness, relaxation and simple breathing exercises can help to control negative feelings and low mood. It can also be useful to talk about it with a family member, partner or close friend, or if you don't feel comfortable talking about it with those close to you there are numerous organisations who can provide information and support, either online or in a face to face group session. The BDD Foundation has a directory of local and online BDD support groups and is a valuable resource for those looking for help with this condition.

BDD and Cosmetic Procedures

Many people suffering with BDD will seek to 'correct' their perceived flaws through cosmetic procedures, including surgery. They often believe that 'fixing' their flaws will make them happy but in the vast majority of cases individuals with BDD continue to be unsatisfied with their appearance and in some cases cosmetic intervention can actually have a negative impact on their wellbeing.

Ultimately, individuals with BDD will not benefit from cosmetic procedures, whether surgical or non-surgical and treatment should be focused on managing the BDD to change the way the individual thinks of themselves and their appearance. Good medically trained aesthetics professionals are trained to recognise BDD and their patients will normally be screened for this condition at the point of consultation. If a diagnosis of BDD is suspected treatment will usually be declined but they will be able to offer advice and support.

Unfortunately two thirds of cosmetic injectable procedures in the UK are carried out by non medical practitioners who do not have the training to identify BDD and who do not have the same ethical standpoint as doctors and nurses. This often leads to them performing inappropriate treatments by putting profits over people.

TOP TIPS FOR SUMMER SKINCARE

Make sure your skin is protected this summer ...

Summer is a time for holidays, days out, BBQs in the garden and soaking up the rays - it's also a great time to level up on your skin care. With longer days and hotter, more humid weather your skin can take a bit of a battering. We've put together our top tips to help you protect your skin while still enjoying the sunshine.

WEAR SUNSCREEN EVERY DAY

If you are going to do one thing to protect your skin - wear sunscreen! Yes, every day. Yes, even if you are not going outdoors (the strong UV rays can penetrate your windows). Yes, even if your moisturiser/make-up has it in it (it's usually not enough).

Look for sunscreens that offer at least SPF 30 and broad spectrum protection (protects against UVA and UVB rays). UVB rays can damage DNA and cause premature ageing as well as skin cancer so if you do not use an SPF you are putting yourself at risk of both.

There are many brands of sunscreen and the choice can be confusing but it is worth splurging on a high quality one for your face as it will be used every day. Some facial SPFs are multi-tasking so offer additional benefits to UV protection. Here are a few of our favourites:

Synergy 6 NX-Gen SPF 50 (great for ageing skin)

This tinted product ushers in a new era of sun protection and damage prevention. Synergy 6 is a multitasking, hardworking skincare product that's much more than just an SPF! Synergy 6 provides UVA/UVB protection, shields from blue light radiation from your devices, and has an environmental pollutant filter. It also contains peptides to stimulate new collagen production for firming and smoothing. Other benefits include skin barrier improvement and increased skin hydration.

Solarium Face Sun Cream SPF 50 (great for skin prone to sun spots and hyperpigmentation)

Tebiskin UV-Sooth SPF 50 (great for sensitive skin)

A great option for sun protection for those with a more sensitive skin type, or who have a hard time finding an SPF that doesn’t irritate. This hydrating, soothing treatment cream helps to reduce redness and calm inflammation while providing the skin with a very high protection factor.

DON'T OVER CLEANSE YOUR FACE

When it’s hot, you might be tempted to wash your face more often or have several showers a day instead of just one. Your skin has natural moisturising factors (NMF) that help to hold hydration in the skin but over cleansing can strip these, leading to dehydrated skin. We recommend that you cleanse your face with a nourishing cleanser morning and night - we love the DIBI Milano Nourishing Milk and DIBI Milano Extreme Youth Cleanser which both cleanse your skin thoroughly without stripping it of it's NMF. If you find you are developing a shine during the day try a mattifying moisturiser such DIBI Milano Mattifying Moisturiser or use blotting papers to absorb excess sweat and oil instead of over cleansing.

USE AN ANTI-OXIDANT SERUM

Anti-oxidants are essential for effective summer skincare as they protect the skin from free radicals caused by UV damage. Free radicals cause oxidation in the skin which in turns leads to lines, wrinkles and discolouration (sun spots). Think about what happens to an apple if you cut into it and leave it uneaten - it goes brown as the flesh is affected by oxidation. Anti-oxidants also help to prevent the breakdown of collagen and elastin so can help your skin to retain it's firmness and elasticity. We recommend an anti-oxidant serum as these are able to be absorbed deeper into the skin. Our favourites are DIBI Milano Vitamin B-C-PP Concentrate, DIBI Milano Collagen and Elastin Concentrate, Skin Vital CE Ferulic and Alumier EverActive C&E, all of which are available in clinic.

KEEP MOISTURISING

Generally speaking, the air isn’t as dry in the summer as it is in the winter but your skin can still dry out so don't forget to moisturise. Saying that, a rich moisturiser may be too much if the weather is humid and your skin is sweating so switch to something lighter like a serum or a light moisturiser. Our summer favourites are:

DIBI Milano Hydra Perfection Hyaluronic Acid Concentrate - a lightweight serum containing a high concentration of hyaluronic acid to keep your skin hydrated without weighing it down. This is perfect to pop on under your SPF during the day and at night you can use the Hydra Perfection Extreme Moisturising Cream which is still light but will soothe your skin for bedtime.

GO LIGHTER ON YOUR MAKE UP

On warmer days, wearing thick make-up can clog up your skin leading to breakouts, and if it's hot and humid is likely to slide off your face. Let your skin breathe a bit by using a tinted SPF (see above) and instead of heavy foundation use a mineral powder or a bronzing powder to give your skin a summer glow. You could even consider having a summer skin peel to smooth your skin meaning you will need less make up. We recommend the Enerpeel Mandelic - a light, superficial skin peel which has no downtime and is safe to use during the summer months.

WEAR SUN PROTECTIVE ACCESSORIES

Summer is the perfect time to treat yourself to something from the Accessories department. We're thinking wide brimmed hats, baseball caps, oversized sunglasses and floaty cover ups to keep you looking and feeling cool. And don't just restrict your accessories to the beach or pool - chuck on your wide brimmed hat and sunnies when walking the dog, taking the kids to the park or having your post-lunch Sunday stroll. We suggest investing in a pair of sunnies which have UV-400 on the label for optimal protection. It's not just the effect of the sun's rays that can cause damage to the skin - if you don't protect your eyes you will be squinting in the sun which could result in the formation of lines and wrinkles.

With new aesthetic clinics popping up all the time how do you know which ones are safe, professional and reputable?

RadioFrequency is fast becoming one of the most popular non-injectable aesthetic treatments on the market today and is the perfect way to get your skin glowing this summer.

HOW DOES RADIOFREQUENCY WORK?

Radiofrequency can be used on the face and body and uses controlled electrical currents to deliver heat into the dermis which then stimulates the production of collagen and elastin in the skin. Collagen and elastin levels decrease in the skin with ageing causing skin to become thinner, looser and more saggy. WHAT DOES THE PROCEDURE INVOLVE?

The handpiece will be used to gently build the heat in the skin to the right therapeutic temperature. This will feel very warm but is comfortable and soothing. Afterwards your skin will be a bit pink and flushed but will this subside very quickly (usually within a few hours).

WHEN WILL I SEE RESULTS?

Immediately after treatment your will see a lifting, tightening effect and your skin will be glowing and healthy. This result will last for a few days to a week but for long lasting results we recommend a course of treatment. At Halo Aesthetics we normally recommend a course of 6 treatments at weekly intervals then a maintenance session every 6-8 weeks. This will give you long lasting results that are easy to maintain.

WHAT AREAS CAN BE TREATED?

5 THINGS YOU CAN DO IN YOUR 30S THAT YOU WILL THANK YOURSELF FOR IN YOUR 50S

It is thought that the human skin matures at around the age of 28 and from that point onwards it is in decline. That means that it is losing collagen and elastin, becoming thinner, drier and will start showing the first signs of ageing. That is why it is so important to start looking after your skin properly in your late 20s and early 30s. Here are our top 5 tips for what to do in your 30s so that you are still looking great in your 50s and beyond.

Use a good quality broad spectrum sunscreen of SPF 30 or above. This is the number one most important thing you can do to prevent ageing. Period. UVA rays are responsible for up to 80% of premature ageing which triggers UV induced 'free radicals' which cause oxidative stress which in turn damages collagen and elastin and causes blemishes and irregular pigmentation. Because UVA rays do not burn the skin most people are unaware of the damage they are causing until it is too late, as the damaging effects can be delayed by many years. This is why SPF is so important - it helps to filter out UVA rays, protecting your skin from UV damage. What most people don't know is that UVA rays are able to penetrate glass and are equally strong during all daylight hours throughout the year, even in winter, so you will still be exposed sitting in your house, driving your car etc. The easiest way to prevent UV damage is to wear an SPF every day of the year. There are many excellent products on the market which are multi purpose day creams with SPF and moisturisers and some even contain anti-oxidant ingredients to further prevent damage.

Avoid smoking and minimise your alcohol intake . Cigarette smoke contains chemical toxins which break down collagen, so it reduces your skin's elasticity and ages it prematurely. It is also known that smoking narrows blood vessels which affects the skin's circulation and reduces the amount of oxygen your skin gets which can make it look dull and lifeless. Not smoking or stopping smoking will definitely have a positive effect on your skin.

Alcohol causes dehydration so drinking excessive amounts will dry out your skin, making it look more wrinkled and unhealthy. Alcohol also causes inflammation in the skin which can result in a red, flushed appearance. The odd drink now and again is no biggie but continuous overuse of alcohol can result in more permanent facial redness which is difficult to get rid of. Reducing your alcohol intake to once or twice a week will minimise the damage to your skin in the long term.

TOP TIP: When you are drinking alcohol drink lots of water too to keep your skin hydrated.

Eat healthily and drink lots of water. We all know that we should be drinking lots of water for all sorts of health reasons and hydration is essential for all of your vital organs to work efficiently. In the skin, hydration is essential for cellular functions and also helps to flush out toxins. If you are someone who always forgets to drink water (lets face it - a lot of us are guilty of this) then there are apps that can help to remind you and get you hitting your daily water intake. Try 'My Water' or 'Daily Water' to keep you on track. You can also top up your water intake by eating foods which have a high water content such as cucumber, celery and apples.

Inflammation in the body (and therefore the skin) can lead to premature ageing, so eating a diet which is rich in healthy protein, fats and antioxidants can help reduce the signs of ageing. These 'super foods' include foods such as broccoli, avocado, blueberries, sweet potato and pomegranate. Try to eat a diet which contains lots of fresh and whole foods and eat less processed foods.

Up your skincare game. When you get into your late 20s and early 30s it's really time to up your skincare game and start using products which have more active ingredients. It is important to note that 'upping your skincare game' does not necessarily mean upping your skincare budget (although if you are using a £2 moisturiser from the supermarket you may have to do this as well!) Many people are spending lots of money on luxury high street skincare brands which are massively underperforming in terms of results. How many times have you seen an ad for a new 'miracle cream', rushed out to buy it and then realised a few months later that your skin is unchanged? We've all been there. The best advice I can give you is to find your nearest professional skin clinic and have a consultation with a skin specialist. They are much better trained to give you advice than the sales person on the beauty counter in Harrods. Many skin clinics will also have a skin analyser so you can see exactly what's going on deep in your skin and what your skin REALLY needs. Skincare products bought in skin clinics are usually what we call 'cosmeceutical' (cosmetic + pharmaceutical) or prescription so you should notice a visible improvement after 6 weeks.

TOP TIP: Look for products with high levels of hyaluronic acid, antioxidants, peptides and retinoids. Many high street brands will contain these but not in the right formulation or dose.

Manage your stress levels. OK I know it's easier said than done - we are all feeling the stress of daily life but whilst there is no quick fix there are little things that you can do to manage your stress levels. Studies have shown that people who experience chronic stress will age faster, and just as stress can affect organs such as the heart and brain, it can also have a massive impact on the skin. There are lots and lots of ways to relieve stress such as meditating, resting, walking outside, deep breathing, yoga, adopting a pet, exercise, art, journalling etc etc. Even something as simple as sitting down for half an hour to rest can be beneficial. Sleep is also very important so try to avoid screens for a least half an hour before you go to bed to reduce stimulation and prepare your brain for sleep.

HOW DO YOU KNOW IF BEFORE AND AFTERS ARE REAL?

NOT EVERYTHING IS AS IT SEEMS ...

With more and more people looking for aesthetic treatments and new clinics popping up left, right and centre on social media it's difficult to see the woods for the trees sometimes. One very common way of catching your attention is good before and after images and these are very useful as they give you an idea of what results are possible and also give you an indication of the the injector's skills and experience. BUT ... how do you know if the images are real? With so many filters and apps available it is really easy to make someone look better than they look in reality. Unfortunately, misleading before and after images are everywhere which makes finding the right injector for you more difficult. So how can you spot a fake before and after? Here are our top tips on clues to look out for.

Look at both the before and after images carefully and bear in mind that the before image could have been taken in a way which makes features look worse as well as the after one being taken or edited to make the person look better.

If it seems too good to be true - it usually is! Whilst amazing transformations are possible they are rarely the result of one treatment in isolation. To achieve significant improvement usually a combination of treatments is required - there is no magic fix!

Lighting is important and can make a huge difference to the way a photo looks so check that the images have been taken under the same light conditions. If the after image is much lighter it may have been edited.

Facial expressions and posture can affect how features look in photos. For example, a slight smile can lift the facial features while a frown can make someone look tired and lower the brows and eyelids. A dipped head can make jowls/jawline look worse and can also reveal dark circles under the eyes. A tilted head can make everything look better so make sure the head is in the same position in both photos.

The angle that the photo has been taken at is crucial as a slightly different angle can change how the person looks. Also the photos should be taken at the same distance, a common trick with lips is to take the photo slightly closer which makes the lips look bigger.

Does something in the photo not quite look right? Often when 'face tuning' apps or filters are used it can distort the face into something that doesn't quite look right. You may not be able to put your finger on exactly what it is but if it looks a little bit strange then don't trust it as being real. It's common to see slight distortions or blurring in photos which have been edited, an example of this is when software is used to sharpen a jawline and in the process is distorts the ear lobe. So don't just focus on the area being showcased - look all around the image and see if there are any clues that it's been doctored.

The photo looks familiar. Many clinics use the same stock images so you may see a before and after image and have a sense that you have seen it before somewhere - you probably have!

SHOULD I HAVE DERMAL FILLER TREATMENT?

Dermal Filler is one of our most popular in-clinic treatments so what exactly is it and why should you have it?

In a nutshell dermal fillers put back what has been lost through the ageing process OR add volume where this is naturally lacking (e.g. thin lips, tear troughs etc.) With age comes a reduction in natural collagen levels, shrinkage and slippage of the fat pads in the face and depletion of hyaluronic acid levels. What you actually see when you look in the mirror though is sagging skin, sunken cheeks, folds and jowls, wrinkles and dull, tired looking skin. WHY IS MY SKINCARE NOT WORKING?

CUT THROUGH THE MARKETING HYPE AND UNDERSTAND YOUR SKINCARE PRODUCTS

You've read about it in the glossy magazines, it's all over Instagram, the influencers are raving about it and it's sold out because someone did a TikTok video ... so why is it not working???

We've all been there - bought into the hype of the latest ' miracle ' skincare product only to discover that our skin hasn't changed one little bit since we started using it. The main reason for this is that the product does not contain enough of the active ingredient(s) and/or does not have the ability to penetrate the skin barrier so the product is ineffective.

In the cosmetic industry marketing can be cleverly deceptive. It's very common for big brands to make bold statements and use trending buzz words to sell their products, e.g. 'contains retinol, clinically proven to reduce wrinkles' - yes retinol IS clinically proven to reduce wrinkles but only when it is used in the right formulation, the right dose and is able to penetrate the skin. Many high street 'retinol' products only contain a sprinkling of retinol which is not in the right formulation or at the right dose to have any effect on your skin. The same is true for lots of the ingredients marketed.

Here we are going to look at 3 of the most popular skincare ingredients and how the formulation of skincare products can differ and produce dramatically different effects.

HYALURONIC ACID

Hyaluronic Acid (HA) is well known as one of the most crucial ingredients in skincare. It is found naturally in the body and is responsible for hydrating the tissues and is also important for the production of collagen in the skin. Hyaluronic acid also helps to transport other ingredients from cell to cell so is a staple ingredient in good skincare ranges. BUT (and it's a big but) ... hyaluronic acid is only effective when it is able to penetrate the upper layers of skin and the sad truth is that most products contain HA molecules which are way too big to be able to do that. So your products need to contain a ' low molecular weight ' HA or ingredients to increase the rate of HA production or slow down it's degeneration.

Our favourite HA boosting products are DIBI Milano Hyaluronic Extreme Moisturising Serum which contains a high concentration of low molecular weight HA and Tebiskin® Gluage Serum which contains two core ingredients which are able to create HA in the skin - Glucuronic Acid and Acetylglucosamine.

VITAMIN C

Vitamin C is an anti-oxidant and is a very common skincare ingredient. It is great for fighting off the free radicals which damage the skin and cause lines, wrinkles and a dull complexion. It is also important for the production of collagen. Vitamin C comes in many different formulations and effectiveness varies greatly. As a general guide look for products which contain L-ascorbic acid and avoid citric acid (this does not contain Vitamin C). The concentration of Vitamin C should be between 8-20% to be effective and you should also look at the delivery system and the colour of the solution. If the solution is quite yellow/orange this is an indication that the Vitamin C has oxidised and effectiveness will be reduced. A good Vitamin C serum should be completely clear.

RETINOIDS

There are six main types of retinoids used in skincare products:

Retinyl palmitate - this is the least potent over the counter retinol
Retinaldehyde - an over the counter retinoid that's stronger than retinol
Retinol - this is the standard ingredient found in over the counter retinoid products
Tretinoin - a prescription only retinoid
Tazarotene - a prescription retinoid which is used in the treatment of psoriasis
Adapalene - a retinoid used in the treatment of acne

Retinoids come in many different formulations and strengths but different products with the same type and strength of retinoid are not always comparable as their effectiveness is often very dependent on their ability (or not) to penetrate the skin. For example, you could have two different products which both contain 2% retinol but one has a good delivery system to transport the retinol into the skin while the other does not. The one which can penetrate the skin will be more effective and will likely cause less skin irritation while the one that does penetrate the skin will be ineffective and cause skin irritation.

So how do you know which ingredients your skin needs and what products are right for you? Well a great place to start is with a skin analysis. Fine lines and wrinkles

Some scrubs can be too harsh (throw away the apricot scrub!) so we recommend gentle chemical exfoliators - look for products which contain AHAs (alpha hydroxy acids) and BHAs (beta hydroxy acids) such as lactic acid, glycolic acid and salicylic acid.

Uneven skin tone

Pigmentation can be tricky to treat especially if it is severe but there are some very effective treatments available. We would always recommend speaking to a professional about hyperpigmentation and urge you NOT to buy 'lightening creams' online as these can be dangerous and cause more damage. With the right topical skincare and in clinic treatments such as facials , skin peels and RF Microneedling a clearer, more even skin tone can be achieved safely. Patience is required as this can take several months to achieve.

Sagging skin

There are lots of non surgical options to replace lost volume and reduce the appearance of sagging skin including Dermal Fillers , Sculptra , Profhilo and technology such as RadioFrequency Microneedling .

Thinning lips

In the same way as your skin loses collagen as you age, so do your lips. Another important factor is the amount of hyaluronic acid in your lips. Hyaluronic acid is an important component of skin and lips as it is the substance which hydrates your tissues, so a depletion in hyaluronic acid will contribute to thinning of the lips. Another reason why lips lose their plumpness is a 'shrinking' of the jaw with ageing which results in less support to the lips which may start to 'disappear' as you get older.

To keep your lips plump it's important to stay hydrated by drinking lots of water, use a hyaluronic acid lip balm (preferably with SPF) and avoid smoking (cigarette toxins deplete collagen). Our top tips on choosing the right skincare ...

A good skin care routine is important for all skin types to look healthy and nourished but skincare products are rarely ‘one size fits all’ so it is important to choose products which are suited to your skin type, age and lifestyle.

How is male skin different?

Male skin is approximately 20-25% thicker than female skin and has more sebaceous glands so produces nearly double the amount of sebum (oil) than women. They also have a higher collagen density than women which means they age at a slower rate but once the ageing process starts for men it can occur quite quickly resulting in sagging skin, and sometimes dark circles appearing around the eyes. The biggest difference in male skin is that they have more facial hair due to testosterone and whether they choose to shave or not can also have a big impact on the skin and its natural barrier.

Cleansing

Male skin should be cleansed morning and night to keep it clean, fresh and blemish free. It is also important that skin is thoroughly cleansed before shaving and a clean, sharp razor is used for every shave. To keep oily skin under control we recommend DIBI Milano Pure Equaliser Cleansing Powder. This product is a powder formulation that is mixed with water to create a creamy cleanser which which deep cleanses the pores, leaving the skin squeaky clean and mattified. For skin that tends to be dry DIBI Milano Face Perfection Cleansing Milk is a good choice. This milky cleanser cleans, nourishes and hydrates. For skin that can be sensitive after shaving Alumier SensiCalm Cleanser can help to soothe irritation, reduce redness and calm the skin.

SPF

A d aily SPF should be used to protect the skin from the ageing effects of UVA and UVB rays which can cause ageing and skin cancer. We recommend use of an SPF which is specifically for the face rather than using a general SPF which can be too thick and block the pores. Male skin which tends to be oily would benefit from a lighter, oil free SPF such as Heliocare Oil Free Gel SPF50 or AlumierMD Clear Shield, while drier skin types may need something more hydrating such as AlumierMD Sheer Hydration or DIBI Milano Face Perfection Daily UV Shield SPF30. SPF should be used daily regardless of the time of year or the weather.

Moisturiser

Male skin can easily become dehydrated/sensitive from shaving, as each time the skin is shaved the upper layers of skin are removed. This can sometimes result in an impaired skin barrier which can lead to dehydrated skin and breakouts. It is important to rehydrate male skin and use products which repair the skin’s natural barrier. To soothe irritation we recommend AlumierMD HydraCalm which soothes and hydrates sensitive skin as well as strengthening the skin’s barrier.

For normal/dry skin the DIBI Milano Hydra Perfection Extreme Moisturising Gel is a winner as men love the gel formulation and it really hydrates the skin. It is packed full of hyaluronic acid which will keep skin hydrated and lock moisture in. For oily, acne prone skin DIBI Milano Pure Equaliser Moisturising Mattifying Fluid is a light moisturiser which will hydrate the skin whilst keeping oil and shine to a minimum.

Serums and Extras

For men who are looking to take their skincare routine to the next level, treatment serums can make a big difference in targeting specific concerns. Whilst mens collagen levels generally deplete slower than womens they do still decline slowly from the mid thirties. DIBI Milano Collagen and Elastin Booster is full of collagen boosting ingredients and contains active ingredients to help stimulate the skins production of collagen. Retinol is always a good addition to any skincare routine as it promotes skin renewal and normalises skin functions resulting in healthier looking skin with fewer acne breakouts. It can also reduce unwanted pigmentation, e.g. sun spots. We recommend DIBI Milano Prodigio Anti Oxidant Kit or AlumierMD Retinol Resurfacing Serum which is available in 3 strengths. If you suffer from ingrown hairs an exfoliator can help to reduce these by preventing build up of dead skin cells. One question we are asked a lot in clinic is 'what's the difference between the WOW Facial™ and the WOW Fusion™?' So let me explain ...

THE WOW FACIAL™

The WOW Facial™ is available at our skin clinic in Milton Keynes and is an advanced 6 step medi-facial which combines scientific knowledge and the latest technology with innovative formulations to create a hybrid of the most popular aesthetic treatments with zero downtime. The unique combination of stages creates a real WOW factor and only needs to be done once to transform the skin for around 3 months.

The 6 stages work on different layers of the skin to kick-start the skins metabolism as well as: exfoliate, detox, regenerate, hydrate, and super-charge the skin with essential vitamins and peptides. The WOW Facial™ can be tailored to suit your specific skin type so that you get a truly personalised facial that is always WOW!

The WOW Facial™ is a 90 minute treatment and costs £250-270 depending on which team member does the treatment. The results are instant and will last up to 3 months. We recommend a professional skincare regime in between treatment to maximise results.

THE WOW FUSION™

The WOW Fusion™ is an innovative new treatment which combines two of the most popular aesthetics treatments - microneedling and mesotherapy.

The WOW Fusion device uses 20 gold-plated, titanium microneedles to gently puncture the skin and is attached to a glass vial containing your bespoke skin 'cocktail'. The Fusion cocktail flows down the needles into the skin delivering the products into the dermis to begin your skin transformation. Microneedling is a very popular treatment in clinic and is well known for its benefits in reducing lines/wrinkles, reducing scarring, improving the skin's microcirculation, shrinking pores and improving skin texture. When Microneedling is used alone these benefits can take several months to be seen, multiple sessions are required and there is usually a few days of downtime, but when WOW Fusion combines microneedling with mesotherapy solutions these improvements are seen almost immediately after just one treatment and last for around 3 months, making this the perfect treatment for those who want results fast with no downtime.

Find out what treatments were most popular at Halo Aesthetics in Milton Keynes in 2020 ...

1. Anti Wrinkle Injections (Botox) With a total of 462 treatments performed in clinic this year Botox is our number one treatment by a country mile! In the year that 'Zoom Face' was a thing you just can't beat it for giving you that fresh faced look. During 2020 one of the things we had to consider was the length of time patients spent in the clinic having treatments to minimise contact, so with Anti Wrinkle treatments only taking around 10-15 minutes Botox was bound to be a popular 'quick fix' in more ways than one.

2. Profhilo

For the second year in a row Profhilo is our runner up for 'most popular treatment' but only beat Dermal Fillers by one procedure! This year we did 188 Profhilo treatments and those who have had it are so happy with the results. There is really nothing quite like it - a quick and simple procedure which gives you firmer, tighter, hydrated, glowing skin with no downtime - I mean what's not to love? At the end of 2020 we also added Profhilo's big sister, Viscoderm Hydrobooster , to our treatment menu which works amazingly well in combination with Profhilo to tackle the dynamic lines around the eyes and lips. We are pretty sure this one will make the Top 10 in 2021.

3. Dermal Fillers

Moving up from number 4 in 2019 Dermal Filler treatment continues to be in demand with a total of 187 treatments performed. Our 3 Point Facelift has continued to be very popular as patients opt for a safe and effective alternative to facelift surgery. Non Surgical Rhinoplasty and Tear Trough Treatments have also been very popular this year. Behind the scenes we have been working on a special collaboration with one of our suppliers to introduce a brand new, innovative dermal filler which is being launched early next year. We are blown away by the clinical data and the results that this new product gives and can't wait to start using it in 2021. More on that coming soon!

3. Lip Enhancement

Dropping down a place this year we did 148 Lip Enhancement procedures. With new 'non medical practitioners' popping up all the time offering heavily discounted Lip Fillers we have seen the number of patients coming to Halo Aesthetics for this procedure drop slightly. Unfortunately for the same reason we have also seen a huge increase in the number of lip filler corrections that we have had to do. Sadly, many of these bodged lip fillers were done by unscrupulous non medical practitioners during the March-July lockdown leaving people with lumpy, deformed and unattractive lips until help could be provided by medical aesthetics clinics such as ours. We reopened the clinic in July and in the first week alone our Aesthetic Nurse corrected 'lockdown lips' for 7 patients. All of these people had had the procedure done in their own or the practitioners house during lockdown and many were very difficult to correct due the poor quality of the cheap filler that had been injected which was hard, lumpy and difficult to dissolve. We really don't want to see this trend continue into 2021 so please make wise choices when it comes to who you let inject your face.

4. Halo Signature Facials

Last year our Halo Signature Facials were at number 8 and they have taken a huge jump up to number 4 thanks to the skill and expertise of our Aesthetic Skin Specialist Katie who has helped so many people achieve better skin through facial treatments and home skin care. There are six facials to choose from which cater for all skin types including acne, dry, rosacea, ageing, UV damage, sensitive and pigmented skin. Katie combines specialist products such as peels, masks and serums along with equipment such as our ProFacial machine, Plasma machine and Celluma LED Light Mask to give you a facial with results. We are very aware that many of you have struggled to get an appointment with Katie with lockdowns and restrictions causing long waiting lists to see her but fear not - we are on the case. We will be introducing another team member in 2021 to make sure that we are able to offer an appointment to everyone who wants one. More on that to come ...

5. WOW! Facial

Up one place from number 6 our WOW! Facial is more popular than ever. If you don't know about the WOW! Facial then where have you been? This 6-step advanced facial combines a light skin peel, dermaplaning, microneedling, mesotherapy, LED light and the famous WOW! Mask to transform your skin in 90 minutes. Everyone who has had a WOW Facial with us has LOVED it and been super impressed with the results, reporting smooth, soft, glowing skin that lasts for around 3 months.

6. Skin Peels

Skin Peels are one of the most underrated treatments and can really transform your skin. In this day and age of super sophisticated peels this treatment can be tailored to your exact skin needs. Whether you suffer from pigmentation, acne, UV damage, wrinkles, open pores, rough texture or dull/tired skin there is a peel solution suitable for you. Katie is your go-to team member for AlumierMD peels whilst Nikki is able to offer a deeper peel called The Perfect Peel . With another new Peel being introduced as soon as lockdown is over you should definitely make 2021 the year you get your glow on!

7. WOW! Fusion
We have a new entry at number 7! The WOW Fusion! is a spin-off from one of the steps of the WOW! Facial. WOW! Fusion is an innovative device which combines the technology of microneedling with the power of mesotherapy to infuse the skin with 40+ vitamins, minerals and amino acids for the ultimate skin booster. The WOW! Fusion can also be used with the addition of Botox which, when used superficially in the skin, has an amazing effect on the redness and inflammation of rosacea and can also improve oiliness, open pores and acne - who knew?! This 15 minute treatment is so easy to fit into your busy lifestyle and is a real game-changer!

8. Sculptra
Another new entry! At Halo Aesthetics we have been offering Sculptr a treatment for around 7 years and have always been super impressed with the results it gives for patients who have lost facial volume through weight loss and collagen depletion. Sometimes dubbed as the ' liquid facelift ' Sculptra boosts your own natural collagen to volumise, smooth and plump the skin gradually for super natural results. This treatment fully deserves to be in our Top 10 and hopefully it will continue to get the recognition it deserves in 2021.

9. Plasma Meso

Finally Plasma Meso has made it into the Top 10 and it's about time! Never has there been a treatment which is so quick, completely pain free and delivers instant results like this one. We use our Plasma machine on the 'plasma shower' setting to 'open up' the skin then apply hyaluronic acid rich mesotherapy solutions. After plasma application the skin quickly aborbs the mesotherapy solution and will be instantly plumped - a great treatment for delicate skin around the eye. The treatment is tailored to your individual requirements so we will choose the best mesotherapy 'cocktail' for you. There are even solutions which improve pigmentation, reduce stretch marks and prevent hair loss. Plasma Mesotherapy is an excellent all-rounder.

10. Microneedling

Last but not least MicroNeedling continues to be a popular choice in the clinic with many clients enjoying the benefits of this collagen stimulating treatment. It's great for skin rejuvenation and scarring and can bring about visible improvements in the skin after just one treatment although we recommend a course of 3 for best results. To provide an even better Microneedling treatment this year we invested in a new Microneedling device - Exceed. Your step by step guide to The Perfect Peel ...

In my opinion The Perfect Peel is by far the most effective and safest skin peel on the market today. At Halo Aesthetics we have been offering this revolutionary skin peel for 5 years and it has transformed the skin of many of our patients. During lockdown I decided to have this treatment myself (let's face it - it was the perfect time!). I wanted to share my journey and let you see what the steps to skin transformation look like and feel like.

Let me start by telling you what The Perfect Peel is ... The Perfect Peel is 5-acid blended peel with glutathione, vitamins and minerals that will transform your skin into looking younger, healthier and clearer in just one week. The Perfect Peel contains a key anti-ageing ingredient never before used in a peel: Glutathione. Glutathione is the ultimate antioxidant, penetrating deep into the cellular level of the skin to fight oxidant damage and reverse premature wrinkling. Glutathione is also proven to reverse melanin’s metabolism, lightening dark pigmentations.

The Perfect Peel blends glutathione, kojic acid, TCA, retinoic acid, salicylic acid, phenol, and a blend of minerals and vitamins, including vitamin C. Kojic acid is a powerful lightening agent and is proven to increase collagen and elastin production, resulting in skin that is brighter and tighter. TCA, phenol and retinoic acid reduce wrinkles and correct pigment problems, while salicylic acid exfoliates the skin and reduces inflammation. Alone the ingredients are powerful, but in combination they produce results that are astonishing.

So let me take you through my Perfect Peel journey ...

Day 1

It's the beginning of April and we are in lockdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic. I've been wanting to have a Perfect Peel for AGES but there never seems to be the right time. Lockdown is the PERFECT time - I don't need to see anyone or go to work so I can hole up in my house and peel to my hearts content. Currently my skin is a bit dull and I've been suffering from acne breakouts which have left my skin looking red and inflamed in parts. My skin is a bit dry after the winter and it is seriously lacking glow. So here goes ... I prepare my skin with an alcohol solution to degrease it and get it ready for the peel solution. I protect my lips, nostrils and the corners of my eyes with some petroleum jelly and then I wipe the first layer of peel solution onto my skin. It feels very warm and prickly but it's not too uncomfortable. I leave it a few minutes and the heat leaves my skin so I apply another layer. This time is feels a bit warmer - not painful but definitely a bit stingy and prickly but again the sensation dissipates really quickly. I apply a final layer - this time the phenol in the peel has numbed my skin a bit so it doesn't feel as uncomfortable. And that's it. I now look like an Oompa Loompa but other than that it feels fine. That evening I rinse the peel off my face using plain warm water, pat it dry and apply one of the Retinol Wipes that come in the Post Peel Kit.

Day 2

I wake up and my skin feels quite tight and is slightly red. It feels like I've sat too long in the sun and have a mild sunburn. It's also a tiny little bit itchy but I get on with the day without any real discomfort. That evening I apply the second Retinol Wipe that comes in the Post Peel Kit.

Day 3

I know this is the day the peeling starts so I wake up and run to the mirror to see what is happening and there it is - the skin around my mouth is starting to peel and everywhere else feels REALLY tight like it's about to crack! I apply some of the Post Peel Moisturiser that comes in the Post Peel Kit. This cream contains Vitamin C, glutathione and hydrocortisone to assist the healing process and enhance the results. I have to really resist the urge to pick at the peeling skin in my lower face, so to remove temptation I trim the excess skin away with a small pair of clean nail scissors. But no sooner have I trimmed away the skin than it starts peeling somewhere else and I literally have to sit on my hands all day as I'm such a picker! By the afternoon the peeling has spread to my lower cheeks and the area around my nose.

Day 4

I wake up looking like an extra from The Walking Dead. My face is peeling everywhere and it feels quite warm. I continue to use the Post Peel Moisturiser and resist the urge to pick. I fail. I've picked the peeling skin and almost immediately I massively regret it as my skin is sore and has gone very red. I am so annoyed at myself for not following the same advice that I give to my patients. Naughty Nikki.

Day 5

The peeling is subsiding and I just have a few flaky patches remaining. I also have a very sore patch on my left cheek where I picked it yesterday (you can see this in the photo). My skin is a bit blotchy everywhere and feels quite sensitive. I continue to use the Post Peel Moisturiser and I am only using plain warm water to clean my skin at the moment. It's a really sunny, warm day but I am staying out of the sun completely as my skin is way too fragile. I'm also noticing that my eyebrows are badly in need of some professional attention but I'm rolling with it as nothing can be done :-(

Day 7

My skin has now completely stopped peeling and the redness has reduced loads. The sore patch on my cheek has also settled down thankfully so I've gotten away with the picking - phew! My skin is already looking much brighter and smoother. The acne scars have faded a lot and my skin is actually glowing. It still feels a little bit dry and looks a bit pink in places but so far I'm delighted with this result. I'm still using the Post Peel Moisturiser and SPF every day although I'm still avoiding the sun. Typical that I choose to do a skin peel the same month we get an early Summer.

Day 14

My skin is almost completely healed now from the peel and is looking amazing. It's so smooth, it looks tighter, lines and wrinkles are reduced and it's got a really lovely glow to it. What a shame we are still in lockdown and I can't be out showing off my new skin. My children are no longer looking at me like I'm some kind of freak show and my husband is relieved that there is no longer dead skin in the bed (oops). Now I just need to get those eyebrows sorted out ...
